Middle and high school students from Western Puerto Rico will work alongside UPRM faculty and students in CREST supported lab to develop their research skills. In most cases this will be their first experience in a research facility. They will receive training on lab safety, research methodology and specialized instrumentation. Additionally they will learn about essential writing and communications skills such as maintaining a lab notebook, creating posters, effective presentations, literature searching, and incorporating scientific literature into their final product. They will also participate in a entrepreneurship and innovation workshop.

Activities began on Monday June 2nd and will continue until June 27th when they will present their research results. High school students will also participate in a poster competition.
